HAPPY NEW YEAR!
My heart is overwhelmed with anticipation of what's to come this next year! I'm so eager to learn....I really want to continue to learn the guitar and harmonica-and just get back into music all together. That was once my passion in life, and I miss it. I want to be a better wife to my amazing husband Robert (even if that means cooking-hehe)... I want to spend more time with my two crazy fun babies while they are still babies...I want to visit local places I've never seen before...I want to GIVE more to others... i want to LOVE more... i want to make sure all of my friends & family know exactly why I love them like i do...I want my body to be healthier and stronger...I want to think outside of the box more, be more creative...I want to take better photos...I want to be a better me.

Just a quick note to all of my clients this past year....
You ALL have inspired me to do what I love. You've gotten me out of my comfort zone and pushed me to grow and I THANK YOU.
It really was an honor for you to have chosen me capture you and your loved ones. There are soo many amazing photographers around you could have chosen but I truly believe God has sent you all my way for some reason. And that makes me glad.

I hope you follow along this year with me on this photography journey I'm on- it's going to be an exciting ride my friends.... let's make the most of our lives! You only have one life to live- be friendly with everyone, do at least one random act of kindness every day. Give compliments to friends and strangers! Life is passing by soo quickly- enjoy it while it last! I am for sure- LET'S DO IT!

Another terrific couple crazy about each other... I LOVE IT!!! They had a great "camping" van they brought along full of props and used it for a dressing room- i'm begging them to use it as the get away car for the wedding! very cool! I was so excited when Josh asked me to photograph him and his girlfriend (hope to soon be fiance') while she was in town visiting from Canada! I knew from the way he lit up when he talked about her, this was going to be an easy shoot! They were soo hot together and he just adores her.. and she of coarse cant keep her hands off that hottie! Josh is an old friend from college, so I can say that! We have lots of fun times together and I'm so happy for him to be this IN-LOVE! thanks guys... i hope to being hearing wedding bells soon and get to capture that first day for you guys! no pressure! lol

Oh I have been such a slacker at keeping up with this blog! Please forgive me. Here is one of my latest "Trash the Dress" sessions with the gorgeous tom boy! They brought their bows and i just had to have a little fun with it! She was such a trooper and got in the water and it was a little chilly out- but it made a giddy to finally have a brave bride to get dirty and WET!!!!

my sweet friend from the Heart hospital had her 3rd baby today and I was fortunate enough to get to go back to recovery to snap a few first pics of her with baby Lauren, and daddy and even G-ma! This was a very cool situation- I had this really cool photographer contact me through facebook and gave me this sweet couples' info to do her maternity pics for her because she was booked and couldn't work it out to do them. Some may call this a hand me down-or someone's second's, but I call it fate! First of all it was cool of Avery-the photographer to find someone with similar style and trust that I would take care of her the way she would've. Secondly, the couple was crazy sweet and happy and she was just glowing! I can't wait to meet their baby boy- she is due in a week or so.... we had fun and she was up for anything! Thank you Avery, I hope I made your proud, and thanks again for sharing this sweet family with me.

I love this family! i will say it again.... I love this family! I met them probably 2 years ago when we first moved to Tx through a mutual friend and they drove down from Oklahoma to have me do their family session. They have 3 GORGEOUS girls and then came along this precious little surprise-finally a boy! Brandon was only 4 days old and did whatever I wanted him to do without a peep. Oh i'm so happy for this family- they are a great group of folks. Im met the entire family after shooting a wedding for them that has brought me tons of business! I LOVE MY OKLAHOMA FOLKS

We had so much fun with these two sisters. If they don't normally get along, they faked it this day, and were soo cute together. Both beautiful, fun, young and loved having their pictures taken! Those are my favorite kind of shoots! It was crazy humid and the fact that it started raining right as we started shooting made it way worse-but sweat and all- we had fun! I hope to get to play with you guys again in the future- i love how these turned out! i love what i do- i am happy!

I was so glad I was able to meet this sweet family. Lucky for me, they had scheduling issues with the photographer they had scheduled to do Colt's newborn photos, and I had the pleasure of doing them. He was already 4 weeks old so he was wide eyed the entire shoot! That usually happens when they get older, they'd rather see what's going on than sleep. Even though he was wide awake, he was very happy and easy to shoot. Congrats to your family- he is beautiful and I can't wait to watch him grow up.

OH my! ALL the babies decided to come out to play at the same time! It has been newborn central around here. Here is my sweet beautiful friend's baby boy Case Houston (cool name). The last session I did with her was a boudroir session and she had just found out she was pregnant- and this is how she told her hubby! (i love it)

Don't wait till the last minute and try to have them done and expect them to be edited and ready for you to get out Christmas cards in a couple of days! (ha! I'm speaking to myself here as well!!). This seems to happen every year, and I had to turn down so many people or convince them to do New Year pics (which is very cool to do also)

I'm so happy this awesome couple found me on the KNOT! Everyone there, including me had a blast at this wedding! This is my handsome brother Mark and his family (minus his 2 boys, Austin and Luke... so sad I missed them) Every GA trip they always get left out b/c of my crazy schedule, but this trip I penciled them in- and I'm so glad I did! These are so beautiful and they are all so beautiful! I love you guys so much and hate that I"m missing watching Nyah grow up!

One of really good friends, Katie has been planning to do photos with her family ummm forever now. Finally we had something set in stone, but we were missing a major link in the puzzle- her husband! He was out of town on business so she decided to do them anyway and make a sweet present of sweet photos of her and their son Jack for her hubby to cherish. Jack is such a cutie and is gonna be a little hottie when he grows up! But would I expect nothing less? Lol! we had fun at this great park with one of those old school merry go rounds that you never see anymore. Probably because one too many children got dragged underneath it while running beside it trying to go FASTER AND FASTER!!!! i'm having flash backs as we speak! LOL! THanks Kittie for being so much fun and being beautiful self!

Blue Bonnets..... where are you?

I've been asking all around trying to find these infamous Blue Bonnets that Texas is known for having everywhere this time of year! This is week is prime season for them, we've been here a little over 2 years now and I've yet to take photos in the blue bonnets dang it! lol! I pulled over on the side of the exit ramp after a family session at the Dallas Arboretum the other day and FINALLY found them! so... this is the long awaited blue bonnet. Impressed?

Ok so this is totally my style! If I could do my wedding all over again, it'd be "old".. not that my wedding in an one hundred year old tabernacle isn't "old", but i guess the word is "vintage"! OH I LOVE IT! Old souls are great!
I love consignment stores and yard sales, I love listening to "mature" adults (old folks) tell stories from their life's journey! One of my favorite bands sing a song called "Yard Sale", check it out, the lyrics are great- it talks about the stories behind all the great things, that some may call junk, mean so much to someone, somewhere! How did i get off on old stuff tangent? LOL! i believe it's part of recycling... go to thrift stores, buy used, reuse things (except disposable plastic forks/cups dad!!!) There's something about objects with a history, they have character- they have a lot to tell. Ok enough of my tree hugger sermon- back to this fun couple! I love the spirit that these kids possess! They have the same heart. I mean they have the same love for people and life. Being adventurous, seeing new places and things! They took me to an old condemned Grain Mill, (which was so cool-I had seen and wanted to check out) that they used to explore together, and slow dance on the roof of! I wish I had taken pictures of the terrain we had to get through to get to that great field we played! Let's just say both Taylor and my feet/shoes were soaking wet-and there was no telling what we were stepping in, after we climbed the barbed wire fence! Yikes! Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get the perfect shot...... and i'm soooo happy we did!
So glad our efforts payed off, and OH how they did! Can I say that? YES I CAN! I'm proud!

Taylor and I had a blast running around downtown dallas taking advantage of the gorgeous weather that day! His parents came along for the fun and snuck in a couple of shots- they were very cool parents so I didn't mind them playing with us! Everyone usually feels a little more comfortable if you don't have people starring at you, no matter who they are! So we ventured off by ourselves some to take some of the cool shots of him by himself! Thank you guys for making the session so easy and fun! Hope to see you guys again soon!

I lOVE ME SOME SENIORS!!!! This is one of my favorite kinds of sessions, because the funkier the better. I'm all about high fashion style photography, and seniors are always up for doing some modeling for me! Dustin was a cutie, and luckily for me, he knew it! ha! He knew what to do to look cool, and what kind of looks to work that camera with! It was super easy for me! This is the time of year to get these done! If you know of a senior graduating and they need photos done, please dont let them go get the cheesy typical, old school "senior photos" done! You are not their friend if you let them pay a fortune for cheese! No offense to those cheese lovers! I'm just sayin!

Of coarse it was a little windy here in Texas, but the weather was fantastic! This time of year makes me happy, and so do couples like this. I believe they found me on TheKnot.com , but we hit it off right away and had many things in common! Beautiful Emerson

This adorable family was a referral from another sweet baby boy I shot a few months back, and I am so thankful I had the opportunity to meet them. I wish you could've seen how in love both mom and dad were with their beautiful baby girl, Emerson. I loved it! It was an interesting shoot.... things kind of ended up a little embarrassing! It just so happened to finally warm up a little outside so we decided to head out and get a few shots in the sun! When I came back into the studio to grab a prop, I smelt something odd! I checked my feet to make sure I hadn't stepped in "doggie surprise" but found no signs of it! After we totally overstimulated baby girl, we ended our session and headed back inside only to find that poor mama, had indeed stepped in "doggie surprise"!!! So we got what we could off her shoe and headed through the house, only to find out that the foul smell we were smelling wasn't her foot, it was a problem our landlord caused with our sewer system! It smelt like a mixture of nasty funk/boiled eggs/sewer... oh yes and yummy pot roast! (it was in the crock pot) Not a nice combination! I was a little embarrassed that my house was so ghetto stank nasty for my clients! I had to just hope and pray that they loved their photos enough that they would forget about the fun festivities we had that day! Oh the joys of having a home studio-but I'm thankful for it! Here are some of my favs! thank you guys for enduring the smell, and warmth! You guys were great- can't wait for the next session!

This is another adorable family I had the opportunity to hang out with a little bit while in GA! The kids were so much fun, had tons of energy but yet so well behaved! We had fun letting them run wild at this beautifully restored home in Newborn GA! It was a friend of their family's home and it was gorgeous! Thank you so much for allowing us to invade your beautiful home for a few hours and letting my husband and children watch cartoons while waiting for me! What a loving and patient husband I have!
This family was too cute together... while in the field I ask mom and dad to kiss and the kiss went ballistic! You know all kids go through that crazy age where they don't like to see mom and dad be affectionate! It is such a great classic shot! I love it! When photographing the 3 kids together, they automatically hugged and loved on one another. When I asked them to be silly they were so awesome together....just very sweet siblings-loved them!

My hubby's 30th Birthday!

My husband really wanted to see all of his buddies from Atlanta GA so we planned a trip home and waited to celebrate his big 30th birthday till we were with the boys! We also got to hear a great singer/song writer Joe Mcguiness check him! He got a lot of great songs....we enjoy listening to him at home with our kids.... we love to dance around in the living room with it turned up loud!
This was an exhausting trip for me (lots of pics to come), I worked the entire week, but loved every minute of it! I got to see some of my great old friends that I might not have seen otherwise! I needed a vacation when we got back! Those trips are not vacations! Did i mention how wonderful my children did in the car ride there and back? 13 hours!!!! Yes we were crazy but actually it wasn't bad at all. Thank You God for car DVD players!

It was a GORGEOUS day outside... 60 degrees and the sun was shining bright! Gotta love this crazy January weather... it won't be this way for long.

London calls the shoes her "chuckey Cheese" shoes, and it just recently dawned on me why. Her daddy calls these shoes "chucks" so she of coarse relates that to chuckey cheese! How clever of her? Oh the mind of a child!

Birth Photography

I've had so many people ask me about birth photography, not knowing exactly what that means. It's becoming more and more popular and once you see photos from a birth, you will know why. There is nothing more precious than seeing a life come into this world. Whether it be in a home, birthing center, or hospital, everything about that experience is amazing. There are so many things that will be missed by all that are participating, the photographer can inconspicuously & respectfully capture them for you. You are so overwhelmed by emotion (& pain) that you miss the little things that made that journey so incredible. I've yet to be able to shoot a birth and hope to someday soon have the chance to so I've posted a link for you to see for yourself why I can't wait to be apart of such an incredible time in people's lives and see how moving the photos are. This engagement session was fun.. it got dark on us quick, but we still managed to get some fun shots with the street lights! There wedding is coming up in May and I can't wait! Where does the time go? I can't believe Jude will be 4 months old in 2 weeks! that's crazy! It really seems like yesterday I was sleep walking, loosing my mind! I knew this wedding was gonna be gorgeous after I shot this couple's engagement session. Not only because they are both so stinkin' adorable, but because they were up for anything and loved taking photos, and having fun! This was a referral from an adorable family session I had done several months back....thank you Vanessa! The wedding location was this gorgeous little wedding chapel www.willowoodranch.com in Bell's Tx, a little drive from Dallas, but oh so worth it! Everything was beautiful, and they were awesome about taking the time for us to get some really great shots! Thank you all for such a great time and allowing me to be apart! Ooohhh how to decide which ones to post? I have so many favorites...

Anticipation of what's to come

happy 2010!!!! WOW it's weird saying that... when I was a child I used to think about this year and think we would be flying around in cars, thanks to the Jetson's. Too bad we aren't huh?

This is such an exciting year for me. Last year flew by waiting on my son to arrive and now he's here, heathly and just as sweet as he is pretty! My family is complete, so now it's time to get serious about my photography business!

For the past 3 years, my business has spread by ''word of mouth" only. Now I'm ready to take it to the next level. I will continue to shoot families and babies and such, but I'm going to specialize in Wedding Photography. After much prayer and consideration, I'm now advertising in theknot.com. This is a scary thing to me for some reason. Running your own business is not for the light hearted, and that I am not, I just never ever thought I'd have my own business?!!! especially not enjoying it as much as I do! Who'd a thunk?! It's perfect for me right now. Actually, I love to teach, what I know that is, to anyone ready to learn. Maybe one day I will be able to help other moms or women to learn this art. I have completely learned all that i know, which isn't much, on my own. That, my friends, is not the easiest way to do it. I practically lived on the internet trying to learn more about shooting in manual and looking at other photographer's work, being inspired to be better! and I am, I will be. I 'm always learning, always looking for more ways to be creative. Ways to be different from the thousands of other photographer's in my area. This type of "art" is subjective. It's how I see things through the lens of life.

When you hire me to capture your special moment for you, you are trusting that I will catch not only a great photo, but somehow help time stand still for a that split moment & capture the emotions behind that photo! I love freezing time and space...and even more I love making my photos become 'ART'. Editing is just as important to me as getting the correct shot right out of the camera. Well enough rambling on about it...the time is NOW....i'm just gonna DO IT!!!!

Kathy was such a sweet bride! Her mom and sisters came along for this bridal shoot and they were all big helpers, holding the reflectors, covers, dress, veil! It was fun! I really had a blast getting to know Kathy & Cullen! From the moment we met at their engagement session and hit it off right away, I knew this would be a fun experience and hope to remain friends after all the festivities are over! One more reason why I LOVE WHAT I DO!

This was a very fun memory day for me. We took a beautiful & excited bride-to-be to the Texas State Fair after we finished the "pretty" session. To top it off, it was raining! People were starring at us, probably thinking we were crazy for coming out in the rain in that gorgeous dress, including the bride's mother! She was not too keen on us doing it, but Becca, the bride really wanted us to.... and oh how glad we were that we did! They ticket booth ladies gave us a discount to get in, and she got free cotton candy, and to cut in line and ride the rides. The Dallas Morning news was there and followed us around reporting us being there, they did a little article about it that next day. A great keepsake for her scrap book of her wedding.

This first shot is one of my all time favorite shots...... although there are so many great ones of her from that entire day.

Please check out the guy in the back ground kindly holding her bouquet while she grubbed on cotton candy!!!! this was the beginning of H1N1 and everybody was freaked out about it... he makes me laugh!

This sweet family met me out on another cold, nasty day to do their session! Thankfully the rain held off for us. These boys were so cute and fun to shoot!

Where has the time gone? London turned 3 this week, and she wanted to have a "my little pony" party, so we did! It was lots of fun with friends, family, fabulous weather and delicious strawberry cake!!! What more could I have asked for? She didn't want to blow out her candles but that was the only minor break down we had, and that made for a good day! lol! Here are some of the photos from the party. I took what I could and another photographer friend took the others! It's nice having professional photographer friends who will shoot at all the special events in your life. I am so blessed!

I ask her how old she was, and she's trying to hold up the correct fingers... she got close. LOL

Ok, I have been on a little bit of a leave enjoying our new baby boy Jude, but I've also been doing some work here and there! Most of them have been bridal sessions that I can't post as of yet, so the groom won't see his gorgeous bride before she walks down the aisle!

I'll be starting back full force in November, so if you'd like to set a session before the holidays fly by us, please email me. Here are a few I took around Halloween.more of Jude I took recently, he is such a sweet little boy already! I love getting to know him!

Here are a few of London at a halloween festival we took her to.... after waking her up from her falling asleep in the car (which is never good to do) into a crazy crowd of kids and mud from the rainy days we had, I expected her to run around and have fun... it took her awhile to enjoy herself, but I'm glad we took her.

Jude was born two weeks early, and it was so wonderful to finally meet him and hold him! I had an amazing water birth experience at Women's and Birth Center in Dallas. If you have ever thought about having a natural delivery, do it! It's so worth it, not easy, but worth it! There's nothing more empowering than birthing a child. I was so proud of myself! (can I say that?) ha! He weighed 6 lbs 12 oz and was born within 3 hours from the time my water broke! I couldn't have ask for a better delivery, and I thank God for it.

So needless to say, I'm gonna be out of commission for a while trying to get some sleep....it's not working out so well thus far.....lol! I should be back to work sometime in November, I have lots to do before the Holiday season arrives. Please contact me about having your session for the holidays.

he had a little jaundice, so I had him in the studio in front of the window trying to get what little bit of sun he could get. It was rainy and cloudy for the first 2 weeks of October. Thankfully he's all better now!

What a beautiful couple? I was honored they chose me to help capture this special day for them. They were so sweet together and obviously so in love with one another! You will not believe how old this beautiful girl is... she's only 12!!!! I'd kill for some long legs like hers! I was totally in my ugly/awkward stage at that age, I guess she's not gonna go through that stage! Lucky her! I found this great new location and I'm excited about it.. so many fun textures and cool stuff to shoot on! Love it! We had a good time trying to hurry before the sun went down on us- we had just enough light...it was way too hot when the sun was up! Gotta love this TX heat!!!!

This shoot turned out great considering the extreme heat we were in! About 30 minutes into the shoot, my shirt was soaked with sweat and so were the kids. We were all ready to get out of the sun, luckily the boys were easy to shoot and were very cooperative. A 19 month old is hard to keep enough to keep up with on a playground without a growing belly getting in the way. The bigger my belly gets, the harder it's gonna make my job! But it wont stop me from doing what I love... I will shoot till I can't stand it anymore!

I've gotten a lot of business from it and met several really cool families! These two boys were so cute and ran me all over that play ground! I loved their energy, but it made me a little worried that I may not be able to keep up with my little boy (on the way). My daughter London has been so easy so far but everyone keeps telling me how wonderful little boys are and how they really love their mama! I can't wait...

We couldn't have had a better day at the Dallas Arboretum than we had for this shoot! It was gorgeous weather and little Avery was so sweet and happy!
